Access to light is often underestimate when planning a trip. Remember, you’re away from city lights, and no matter how beautiful the stars are or how bright the moon is, it’s dark at night. Be prepared with an assortment of lights.

• A headlamp is ideal for most situations. They keep your hands free and have been a life-saver when attempting to start a fire or cook after dusk.
• Lanterns are a must. When you’re sitting down to eat or trying to navigate the site at night, a good lantern that casts a wide radius is important. Also, depending on your adventure, a lantern can be extremely helpful when using the restrooms.
• Flashlights are an obvious choice that can give more light than a headlamp, and there’s more versatility in identifying noises in the dark.
